Man United player ratings as defensive pick up THREE 7/10, Kobbie Mainoo gets 7/10 with a ‘screamer’ goal

Manchester United drew with Liverpool in the Premier League, and these are the players’ ratings at Old Trafford.

Andre Onana

Made a particularly nice stop from Dominik Szoboszlai and had to deny additional chances as Liverpool attempted but failed to go 2-0 ahead. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Lost Darwin Nunez, who took the corner from which Liverpool scored, is prone to panic. Claimed an unusual assist for Kobbie Mainoo, but then conceded a penalty. 5

Willy Kambwala

Only his second United start, he got acclaim from Erik ten Hag for an important recovery tackle at 1-0 that helped United equalise. 7

Harry Maguire

He held the fort gallantly with his sixth different partner of the season, Kambwala, and dominated the aerial duels. Stoic defense. 7

Diogo Dalot

Did more defending than attacking in the first half, but got more proactive in the second as Liverpool allowed United to seize the initiative. 6

Casemiro

Squandered a good headed chance by attempting to identify a teammate, and irritated the crowd by kicking the ball away. More cautious with the ball in the second. 5

Kobbie Mainoo

He remained neutral for an hour before unleashing the sweetest strike of his career to put United ahead of Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford. 7

Alejandro Garnocho

In his 29th consecutive start, he was forced to change flanks but, as usual, he persevered and contributed to Mainoo’s goal. 6

Bruno Fernandes

The first half began poorly with a delayed pass for Garnacho, which only worsened. Then he scored a stunning equaliser out of nowhere. 7

Marcus Rashford

Despite a committed sliding tackle early in the first half, Rashford’s recall was not justified, as he was pulled off in the 66th minute due to an injury. 4

Rasmus Hojlund

A mismatch against Virgil van Dijk for the second month in a row, however any striker would have struggled given the absence of a coherent approach in the first half. 5

Subs

Antony

Unfortunate not to start, and came on just before United scored. 6

Sofia Amrabat

Came on to defend the lead, but had to shift his perspective after Salah leveled. 5

Mason Mount

Offered some energy and booked. 5

Manager

Rashford was reportedly recalled because Antony was unable to restart owing to workload. Liverpool’s indiscipline and two spectacular goals saved them. 5
