Unexpected Bond: Baby Elephant Finds Unlikely Friendship with a Dog After Being Rejected by Herd (Video)

The Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage in South Africa is home to many endangered wildlife species, such as the rhinoceros, leopards, zebras, and elephants.

Here is Ellie’s story, a baby elephant found dying after being rejected by her herd.

Watch the video at the end.

Ellie was born with a host of illnesses that reduced his chances of survival.

The reserve staff didn’t think he would be able to do it himself, so they fed him and looked after him for days and nights until his health finally improved!

However, elephants are known to be very social and often cannot thrive out of their herds. Therefore, even when Ellie recovered, he was still a depressed and lethargic child with no will to live.

Since his flock would not accept him, the workers tried to help him find solace with a dog that used to be a bartender and sniffer, a German shepherd dog named Duma.

In this adorable video, we see how Duma helped Ellie survive all her difficulties. Ellie developed a spark to life under Duma’s loving and tender presence.

Ellie still has a long way to go, but with Duma at his side, that road doesn’t seem too lonely to him anymore!
