According to CNN, the head of NASA on May 5 confirmed that the star of the blockbuster “Mission Impossible” series will fly into space and stay at the ISS station more than 400 km from the Earth’s surface.

“We need to spread the word to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists who can realize NASA’s ambitious plans,” NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said on Twitter. . This will be the first action exploration film shot in space. It is unclear how or when Tom Cruise was brought to the ISS.

Previously, a few movies were also filmed on the ISS such as the IMAX movie produced in 2002 or Apogee of Fear in 2012. However, those were only documentaries made by astronauts.

Currently, Russia is the only country capable of sending people to and from the ISS.

For many years, space technology corporation SpaceX and aircraft manufacturing corporation Boeing have been working to develop spacecraft capable of returning to Earth after entering space. SpaceX’s historic Crew Dragon spacecraft launch is expected to take place on May 27 at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

However, unlike previous human spaceflight programs, for the spacecraft of the above two companies, NASA does not have the right to own and operate them. Both companies will be allowed to sell spaceship seats to any passenger who wants them and is willing to pay the multimillion-dollar price tag. SpaceX has announced that it will cooperate with third-party companies to sell seats on the ship for about 50 million USD/seat.
