Tom Cruise is seen filming action scenes for an upcoming movie, which is speculated to be Mission: Impossible 8. Cruise has been busy in the past couple of years with movies from multiple big franchises. This included last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and the 2022 blockbuster sequel Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise’s next project is the eighth Mission: Impossible installment, which seems to be already underway.
According to multiple news outlets, including BBC and ITV, Cruise has been spotted filming an action scene for an upcoming movie. The videos included footage of Cruise in Derbyshire, filming in what appears to be a beaten-up, dirt-covered Jeep. Aerial footage shows trailers and other evidence of a film set. There were vehicles spotted in the Middleton Mine as well.
While the images did not confirm what film Cruise is working on, two posts from former castmates suggest that Cruise may be filming Mission: Impossible 8. This included the above post from Simon Pegg, who posted a selfie with costars Haley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Tarzan Davis and said, “Saving the world has never been so much fun.” Pegg’s selfie post did not include any images of Cruise.
Atwell, who debuted as Grace in Dead Reckoning, also indicated that she might be filming a movie, offering a post from her “day off.” As in the case of Pegg, Atwell did not explicitly indicate that she was involved in filming for Mission: Impossible 8. The scenery in the video also seems to be the Peak District, where part of its landscape is located in Derbyshire.
Tom Cruise Needs To Complete Mission: Impossible 8 Despite The Warner Bros. Deal
However, Atwell and Pegg’s posts give strong evidence that Cruise is filming
Mission: Impossible 8
, especially since the movie has a 2025 deadline to accomplish.
Despite the underwhelming box office for Dead Reckoning last summer, it doesn’t seem to have deterred the developments for the next Mission: Impossible movie. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning ended with Cruise’s Ethan Hunt getting hold of both keys after he and Gabriel (Esai Morales) battled each other to get hold of them. The eighth movie will focus on Ethan and his team looking for the lost Sevastopol as they attempt to stop the AI program Entity for good.
While Atwell, Pegg, Klementief, and Ving Rhames (Luther) are expected to return, Mission: Impossible 8 will be without one cast member, Rebecca Ferguson. This comes after her character, Ilsa, was killed by Gabriel during the events of Dead Reckoning, causing Ethan to lose a crucial team member. While there have been theories about a potential Ilsa return, such as a fake death, Ferguson has been doubtful of a future reprisal.
As speculation fuels, Cruise will be busy in the coming months due to a deal with Warner Bros. It was announced earlier this year that Warner Bros. and Cruise were pairing up to develop and produce films together, including original and franchise films. Therefore, it is uncertain if the movie Cruise is filming is Mission: Impossible 8 – which is distributed by Paramount Pictures – or a project under Warner Bros. However, Atwell and Pegg’s posts give strong evidence that Cruise is filming Mission: Impossible 8, especially since the movie has a 2025 deadline to accomplish.
