Teaser Trailer Sparks Speculation Among Fans: Will the San Andreas Sequel Feature Dwayne Johnson Again?

It has been a month since the SAG-AFTRA strikes ended. Hollywood will start pushing out blockbuster movies one after another to overcome the loss the industry took in the last four months of the strike. So if you’re a movie enthusiast… brace yourselves.

Speaking of upcoming movies, Dwayne Johnson‘s San Andreas 2 teaser trailer is going viral on social media platforms. Does this confirm his return to the movie’s sequel? Let’s dive deep and find.

The San Andreas viral teaser trailer is fake

Recently, Foxstar Media on YouTube released a minute-long teaser trailer for San Andreas 2, hinting that the movie will be released in 2024. Just in a matter of 48 hours, the teaser trailer for the movie sequel has garnered over a million views and 1.5k likes on the platform.

The clip shows an earthquake wreaking havoc on the city and people running and fearing for their lives. It was said that the plot for the sequel of San Andreas 2 will revolve around earthquakes, just like the first movie. This makes the teaser trailer believable. But sadly, it is fake.

The clip is a compilation of footage from other natural disaster movies, including the first San Andreas film. Therefore, the movie will not hit the theaters next year. It will take a while for the movie to make its way to the cinema, as it is still a ‘work in progress’.

When will the sequel of Dwayne Johnson’s San Andreas movie be released?

Last year in November, fans found out that Johnson’s earthquake-centric disaster movie will get a sequel somewhere in 2024. But by the looks of it, that will not be happening. According to actor Paul Giamatti, who portrayed the character of Dr. Lawrence, the fate of the film is still uncertain.

His recent appearance on the ‘Happy Sad Confused podcast’ shed light on the status of the production team for San Andreas 2, as he expressed that they have currently halted their progress. Plus, a report from 2022 revealed that Johnson’s busy schedule will lead to his unavailability for the filming of the movie.

While the movie is nowhere close to its release, there are full chances that the $800 million worth Hollywood actor will return in the sequel, as he was the lead hero in the first edition. The only question is when. When do you think the fans will witness Johnson’s return in the San Andreas sequel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
