Manchester United midfielder Casemiro believes the Red Devils must emulate Manchester City to succeed.

Casemiro and his teammates were subdued in a 3-1 loss to Pep Guardiola’s team on Sunday (March 3). Despite an early strike from Marcus Rashford (8″), City dominated the game and eventually scored three times after the interval (56″, 80″, 91″).

Talking about Manchester City’s rise to the top, the Brazilian midfielder said after the match (via The People’s Person):

“That is a big goal, we also have to humbly accept that they are very strong at the moment, not historically, because Manchester United’s past speaks for itself, but today they are the team beat us. Everyone wants to beat Man City. We need to look at Man City as a mirror to learn from.”

Over the past decade, Manchester City has won six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy , among many other trophies. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have achieved success in the FA Cup (2016) and Europa League (2017) during this period.

Regarding the last match, Casemiro added: “We started well. The whole team knew that Man City wanted to control the match, but we always felt comfortable. Of course, when they put pressure, they always created opportunities, but we also had some opportunities to counterattack. We came back in the second half and conceded very early.”

In the recent Manchetser derby, Manchester City dominated ball control (73%), took 27 shots compared to Manchester United’s 3 and forced Andre Onana to save 8 times.
