Star-Studded Cowboys Soar to Victory in Thrilling Overtime Win!

Not a great week but health is most important.

McCarthy, the Cowboys’ offensive play-caller, is anticipated to be coaching against the Eagles on “Sunday Night Football.” Quinn refused to even talk about the hypothetical situation of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer calling the offensive plays Sunday night should McCarthy miss coaching the game.

“You really think that tough Irishman is going to miss this game?” Quinn said with a smile. “We’re certainly anticipating Mike being back for the game. We’ll hold it down for practices. Knowing him, he’ll be online tonight wanting to go through red zone and third down and everything else. We expect him to be rocking by game day.”

Prescott had a similar response to Quinn’s about McCarthy’s availability.

“Yeah, I figured that from the jump, knowing that guy,” Prescott said Thursday when asked if he thinks McCarthy will be on the sideline calling plays on Sunday. “Knowing how tough he is too and how tough he says he is with a great chance to prove it. So, yeah, I figured he was.”

The quarterback had much more of a straight face when talking about how McCarthy’s has factored into his success this season. In his first season with McCarthy calling offensive plays in Dallas, Prescott leads the NFL in passing touchdowns (26) and touchdown-to-interception ratio (26-6) while ranking in the top five in numerous other passing metrics.

“Yeah, his playcalling has been great honestly, and it’s a credit to him and the communication,” Prescott said Thursday. “It’s communication throughout the week and then the same sense, Schotty [offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer] and the way that they’re game planning and installing early in the week.”

Will Dak Prescott or Jalen Hurts spearhead statement win? Why Cowboys, Eagles need different recipes for QB success – Yahoo Sports, Jori Epstein

Week in and week out, plays that are extended by the quarterback are some of the most game-changing.

Ahead of a prime-time matchup between two of the NFL’s best and most popular teams, a player from neither organization may have shed the most light on the matchup this week.

Allow San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa to explain to us the 9-3 Dallas Cowboys’ best chance to beat the 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles.

“Obviously, we put the blueprint out there,” said Bosa, whose 49ers trumped the Eagles 42-19 Sunday in Philadelphia. “Hopefully the Cowboys watch the tape. We made Jalen stay in the pocket and escape outside instead of those B gaps and it paid off … because Jalen’s looking at the rush every play.

Containing Hurts is not a new topic, nor is it groundbreaking for a defense to want to shore up B-gaps — the gaps between offensive guards and offensive tackles — that can become dangerous running lanes. However, opponents should heed Bosa’s guidance to strategize not only containing Hurts generally, but also more specifically sending his escapes outward rather than upfield. That understanding of Hurts’ mobility may be the key to supplanting the Eagles from atop the NFL.

Cowboys vs Eagles preview: Analyzing key matchups, strengths and predictions – FOX Sports, David Helman and Ralph Vacchiano

Biggest advantage for the Cowboys over the Eagles?

Let me be clear: Dak Prescott is still playing well enough to overcome a good pass rush. He nearly did it last time out against Philadelphia. If the Eagles don’t get him on the ground a few times, I’m positive he’s going to hurt their secondary a few times. So you can bet Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai will once again try to test right tackle Terence Steele and anyone else he sees as a weak spot in the Cowboys’ protection.

Let’s stick with the quarterbacks. You mentioned that maybe the standard is unfair for Philly, and it feels like that applies to Jalen Hurts. I keep seeing speculation about why he seems to be struggling, and then I look at the stats and see that he’s averaging 254 total yards with nine total touchdowns over the last three games.

Is this a case of Hurts not meeting high standards, or is his knee injury hampering him that much? And if it is, do the Eagles need to adjust their offense to address that?

Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Studied LeBron James, Tom Brady Training, Healthcare Regimens – BleacherReport, Andrew Peters

Dak Prescott on his fitness routine.

Like most professional athletes, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is striving to keep his body at peak performance. To do that, he has looked to some of the greats to study their training and healthcare regimens.

Per ESPN’s Todd Archer, Prescott has studied LeBron James and Tom Brady to model his training and healthcare plans.

“You’re always looking at greats and what they’re doing, and you see guys, like LeBron [James], Tom Brady, have these methods and spend millions of dollars on their body each year, and you wonder why. And it’s obvious when they’re playing as long as they played at such a high level that that’s what they need to do to feel comfortable.
