CLO) The $28 million Rolls-Royce Boat Tail currently has only 3 units released, one of which belongs to rapper Jay-Z and his wife.
Event: Rolls-Royce
Last weekend, Rolls-Royce launched the super product Boat Tail, made by the Coachbuilt division. Boat Tail attracts attention because of its design inspiration from yachts and only 3 units were released with a rumored price of up to 28 million USD.
Rolls-Royce did not disclose the identities of the three customers who own Boat Tail. According to the Telegraph, star couple Jay-Z and Beyonce are the owners of one of the three Boat Tails.
The Telegraph has provided some evidence for this speculation. First, the back trunk of the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail has a refrigerator containing 2 bottles of Armand de Brignac wine, cooled at exactly 6 degrees Celsius. According to a Rolls-Royce representative, this is the customer’s favorite champagne. Coincidentally, Armand de Brignac is a brand founded by Jay-Z and the rapper just sold 50% of this wine company’s shares at the beginning of the year.
Next, the car’s design reminds of the beautiful Mediterranean coastal roads in Cote D’Azur (France). This is the place where the famous couple often visits for outdoor picnics. This detail also helps explain the presence of a picnic kit in the rear trunk.
Finally, the Boat Tail is finished in blue paint and Rolls-Royce says this paint color is named after the car’s owner. The Telegraph discovered one of the blue colors inside the car is called Blue Ivy. Jay-Z and Beyonce’s 9-year-old daughter is named Blue Ivy Carter.
According to Telegraph’s own source, rapper Jay-Z signed the underside of the Rolls-Royce logo on the front of the car while his wife signed on the rear logo. The couple’s signatures appear on the engine.
Rolls-Royce said the first Boat Tail belonged to a customer who owns a 1932 Boat Tail. Jay-Z is said to own this classic car.
If the Bespoke concept refers to cars that are personalized to every detail on an existing vehicle platform, then Coachbuilt is at a higher level. This concept is for vehicles that are manufactured and designed specifically and of course, the equipment is not optional but is made according to customer requirements.
With a price of 28 million USD, Boat Tail becomes Rolls-Royce’s most expensive new car model, surpassing the 13 million USD Sweptail launched in 2017.
