In a bold and defiant public statement that’s already making waves across the political landscape, former President Donald J. Trump has thrown his full support behind former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, calling her “America’s top lawyer” while accusing the Left of orchestrating a calculated distraction campaign centered around the resurfacing of the Jeffrey Epstein saga.
“They’re bringing up Epstein again because they don’t want people asking questions about the real scandals — the Biden family, crooked Hillary, and Obama’s spying. Total distraction,” Trump said during a press conference following a rally in Ohio. “And let me tell you — Pam Bondi is doing an amazing job. She’s tough, she’s honest, and she’s not afraid to fight back. She’s great.”
The comment came in response to mounting media coverage of what is being dubbed the “Epstein Files” — a fresh batch of unsealed court documents, witness testimonies, and government correspondence involving deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful social circle. While the documents do not implicate Trump in any criminal wrongdoing, his name, along with many others in business and politics, has appeared in various logs and conversations — enough to reignite public discourse.
But Trump is calling the renewed attention to Epstein “a political stunt.”
“These people — Obama, Biden, Hillary — they know their time is up. So they pull the oldest trick in the book. They bring out Epstein. It’s smoke and mirrors. Look over here, not over there,” Trump told reporters. “They’re terrified of what we’re exposing. And that’s why they’re going after Pam too.”
Pam Bondi, a longtime Trump ally and one of the most prominent conservative legal voices in the country, has recently made headlines for her involvement in a high-profile probe into government overreach, election integrity, and Big Tech collusion. She has also been a visible presence on conservative media, defending Trump’s legal battles and attacking what she calls “the politicization of justice under the Biden DOJ.”
Trump praised her leadership, saying, “Pam isn’t just a great lawyer — she’s a warrior. She’s standing up to these corrupt forces, and they hate her for it.”
Bondi herself responded to Trump’s remarks on Truth Social, writing, “Honored to have President Trump’s support. The American people deserve the truth — and no amount of distraction from the Left will stop us from getting it.”
Critics, however, argue that Trump’s deflection tactics are part of a larger strategy to delegitimize ongoing investigations and muddy public perception. Prominent liberal commentators have accused him of using Bondi and others as shields while dismissing serious allegations tied to Epstein’s powerful network.
Still, among Trump’s base, the message is resonating.
“This is classic Trump,” said conservative strategist Blake Morgan. “Call out the corruption, punch back twice as hard, and keep your allies close. Pam Bondi represents the kind of legal grit that MAGA voters admire.”
As 2024 looms ever closer, the battle over narratives — and the figures at the center of them — is reaching a boiling point. Trump’s full-throated defense of Bondi and his dismissal of the Epstein coverage as a partisan ploy may set the tone for months of political warfare ahead.
Whether the Epstein story will continue to dominate headlines, or fizzle under the weight of counter-allegations and political theater, remains to be seen. But for Trump and his allies, one message is clear: they’re not backing down — and they’re calling the Left’s bluff.
