They’re back, baby!

Chunky platform sneakers are delightfully having their moment again, thanks in no small part to Shakira.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer looked straight out of a 90s movie while stepping out for a dance-filled sushi dinner at sᴇxʏ Fish Miami with a friend on Friday Evening. For the occasion, she opted for a grungy, casual ‘fit composed of a slouchy red tee that featured a black heart graphic and accompanying text, along with oversized, baggy black jeans, and the star of the show: ultra-tall white platform sneakers that featured a black detail along the top. Shakira added perfect edgy accents with a thick silver chain necklace and a black purse that featured bulbous, futuristic silver details along the handle. She rounded off the look by styling her long caramel locks in a high half-up, half-down ‘do, complete with face framing tendrils, and opted for minimal, natural makeup.

The Queen of Latin Music’s laidback ensemble serves as a stark contrast to her usual form-fitting bombshell looks. For example, she showed out in four fabulous, show-stopping outfits at the 24th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in November, while taking home three awards: Song of the Year, Pop Song of the year, and Best Urban/Fusion Performance.

The singer first performed in a skinтιԍнт, sheer catsuit with a blue geometric pattern, then later took the stage in a strapless golden gown by Dolce & Gabbana with an image of the Virgin Mary in the center and dazzling white crystals all over. She walked the red carpet in an asymmetric black velvet dress by Harris Reed with a structured golden bodice, side cutouts, a high leg slit, and a long train, and ended the night with a bang, stunning in a knitted emerald-green halter dress covered in sequins.
