Shakira put a lot of distance between her and Gerard Pique following allegations that he cheated, which first surfaced in 2022. Following their break-up, Shakira relocated from Spain to Miami with their two sons, a move Gerard seemingly didn’t oppose despite the geographical divide.

However, the exes recently reunited after a stalker threatened the safety of their two boys, a situation which has understandably left the family shaken.

Shakira’s Stalker Could Be Released From Jail Soon

According to reports, a man named Daniel John Valtier was arrested outside of Shakira’s Miami Beach house by security. He reportedly trespassed on the property making a variety of claims, including that he’s married to Shakira.

Following the incident, Shakira and Gerard are apparently more worried than ever about their family’s safety, especially since it’s not a guarantee that the stalker will stay behind bars for long.

“The problem is not over, because he is in prison, but the trial has not yet taken place and he has a bail of 150,000 euros, of which he must pay only 10 percent,” a source told

Shakira has reportedly asked authorities that her home be kept under surveillance 24 hours a day. Moreover, she’s apparently in conversation with Pique about additional measures they can take to protect their sons. They’re reportedly considering an increase in the number of security guards on the property, or even selling the home.

Shakira And Gerard Are Working Together Despite Their History

Shakira and Gerard were together for over a decade before calling it quits over a year ago. They first met in in 2010 when Pique, a professional footballer, appeared in the music video for Shakira’s hit song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” the official anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. They started dating soon after.

The pair welcomed their first son, Milan, in 2013, and later expanded their family again with the birth of Sasha in 2015.

Nevertheless, their relationship came to an end when they released an official statement in June 2022. “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

It’s been alleged that Gerard had an affair with a younger woman, Clara Chia Marti, who he debuted his relationship with publicly soon after the reports made headlines. Shakira has prompted even further speculation by seemingly referring to another woman in music released since the split.

Perhaps even more telling, Shakira seemed to diss her ex during an appearance on the Mexican programme En Punto con Enrique Acevedo last year, saying she doesn’t need “a man to be complete.”

“I bought the story that a woman needs a man to be complete. I had that dream of having a [nuclear] family: mother and a father living with their children living under the same roof. Not every dream in life comes true, but life finds a way to make it up to you,” she said, which was translated from Spanish.

During the same interview, she also said there’s a special place in hell for “women who don’t support other women,” which some took as a reference to her ex’s alleged mistress.

For now, Shakira and Gerard have not commented on the stalker situation.
