A journalist reported that the famous Colombian singer, Shakira, visited the Lebanese village where her paternal grandmother was born on Friday. The 41-year-old musician was overjoyed to be there and even greeted the crowd in Arabic with a warm “Hello Tannourine, thank you, I am happy to be here!” The visit was highly secured and included a trip to a nature reserve that boasted Lebanon’s national emblem – cedar trees. Shakira planted two saplings during her trip and was accompanied by local officials.

Shakira visited the mountain village of Tannourine in northern Lebanon and received a great honor. The mayor of Tannourine, Bahaa Harb, announced that a portion of the reserve would be named Shakira Mubarak, which is one of her family names. To kick off the Cedars International Festival, Shakira’s concert was held on Friday evening and was anticipated to attract a crowd of 13,000.

Shakira made a trip to the Tannourine Cedars Reserve in Lebanon recently. It’s worth noting that this isn’t her first time in the country – she visited back in 2003 and returned for a concert in 2011. This time, Shakira brought along her two sons.
