Selena Gomez to host Rare Impact Fund gala benefitting mental health

Selena Gomez is taking the role of a host, and her event has a noble purpose. The 34-year-old actress, seen at one of Taylor Swift’s Los Angeles shows, revealed her plans to host the inaugural benefit for the Rare Impact Fund in Los Angeles this Fall. The star of “Only Murders in the Building” established this charity through her company Rare Beauty in 2020, with the aim of offering mental health services to the youth.

The MTV Music Award winner, who candidly shared her struggles in the documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me,” explained, “I am incredibly proud to host the inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit and look forward to an inspiring night of raising funds for these lifesaving services and showcasing the impact we have made so far.” Tickets for the event, scheduled on October 4 at Nya Studios in Los Angeles, are available for purchase on the Rare Impact Fund website.

Notable attendees include Selena’s co-star Martin Short from “Only Murders in the Building” and electronic music artist Marshmello, her collaborator on the hit single “Wolves.” Selena founded the Rare Impact Fund to raise $100 million for youth mental health, with one percent of Rare Beauty sales contributing. The fund now supports 23 organizations globally, raising $6 million for about 740,000 young people.

Season three of “Only Murders in the Building” premiered on August 8th on Hulu. In a video shared on social media with co-star Meryl Streep, Selena announced, “Hey everyone, get ready for Season three of Only Murders in the Building.” In the video, Meryl Streep asked, “‘Dropping August 8?’ I think that’s right.” Selena, laughing, confirmed, “That’s right.” Paul Rudd and former “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Jesse Williams also join the cast for season three. The streaming platform released the first two episodes on Tuesday, with more episodes to follow each week.
