At the Table For Two podcast, actress Scarlett Johansson shared that she does not want to be stereotyped in provocative roles.

The actress affirmed that her former management team seduced and guided her to take on the role with a sexy, seductive image when she started acting.

According to the Black Widow star, her character at that time often had the image of a sweet, innocent girl. “It is a fact that such young girls are often treated like objects,” commented Scarlett Johansson.

The actress said that often playing the role of “third person” and “object of desire” makes her feel like she is forced into a position where she cannot escape.

She expressed: “In my opinion, because I was oriented to follow this path, I was really stuck in it.”

Johansson soon realized that roles that only focused on her appearance could not help her career last long. According to her, this is the type of role that “quickly shines brightly but also soon fades away”.

“After that, you don’t have many opportunities outside of roles like this, and I felt like I became exhausted too quickly,” the actress shared.

Johansson revealed that she had a “really difficult time” when making the movie Lost In Translation with Bill Murray at the age of 17 because of the ambiguous, somewhat heavy relationship between their characters. She felt like she was lost in a “strange fantasy” during that time.

The actress said that even her role as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 was “underexploited and over-sexualized” at the beginning. However, she worked with directors Jon Favreau and Kevin Feige to give the role more depth.

Previously, Johansson revealed that she was constantly “over-sexualized” in Hollywood, making her think her career was about to end. “Like, this is the kind of career I have, these are the roles I play. And I was like, is that all it is?” she shared.
