Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost had an A-list holiday party in New York City on Thursday that overflowed with celebs celebrating seasonal “firsts.”
Chris Evans, 42, and Alba Baptista, 26, made their first public appearance since their surprise wedding.
Exclusive photos obtained by Page Six show the “Knives Out” star and the Portuguese actress arriving at the event holding hands.
“They looked inseparable and he seemed to be a gentleman and very protective of her,” a source told Page Six. “He quickly grabbed for her hand the second they left.”
The “Avengers” star secretly wed Baptista in an intimate, at-home ceremony in early September.
They tied the knot after it was revealed that they had been “secretly dating for over a year.”
“They are in love, and Chris has never been happier,” a source told People in November 2022. “His family and friends all adore her.”
Johansson, 39, is a longtime pal of Evans, going back further than their Marvel days.
“I’ve been very close with Chris for such a long time,” she said during a 2021 appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham.”
“With the first time we worked together, we did a movie called ‘The Perfect Score’ when I was 17… We spent a lot of time talking about our families, other people’s relationships, like all of it. We could talk for hours, and about all kinds of stuff, in a way the sort of, like, big sister relationship that [Marvel character Natasha Romanoff] has sometimes with [Evans’ Marvel character Steve Rogers] — even though Chris is a couple of years older than me — but I think we sort of have that same dynamic.”
Johansson previously told People that during the holidays, “I like to watch old movies, read and bake. My favorite holiday movie is ‘Home Alone 2,’ believe it or not!”
The guest list for her bash was over the top, with other celebrities in attendance including Lorne Michaels, Bill Murray, Sarah Silverman, Rachel Dratch and Amy Poehler — making it a massive gathering of “SNL” vets.
Murray, 73, has ties to both Johansson and Jost — since he’s an “SNL” alum, like Jost, and he starred with Johansson in the 2003 movie “Lost in Translation.”
Several other former “SNL” alums were also party guests, including Seth Meyers and Chris Rock, fresh off reports that Rock refused to host the 2024 Golden Globes (the event will be hosted by comedian Jo Koy).
“Succession” star Kieran Culkin, 41, was in attendance too, even as he waits to see whether he’ll take home a Golden Globe for the show’s final season on Jan 7. The show is up for “Best Television Series – Drama,” and he’s competing alongside co-stars Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong for the “Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama” prize.
Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, made it a date night too.
For Baldwin, this was his first public outing since he got into a verbal altercation with anti-Israel protestors on Monday.
Baldwin was walking by the demonstration near West 29th Street when protesters spotted him and darted toward him, accusing him of supporting Israel. “Shut your f – – king mouth, you have no f – – king shame,” one man shouted at Baldwin.
When he was asked if he condemned Israel, Baldwin replied, “No, I support peace for Gaza.”
“Go f – – k yourself,” the man yelled.
“You ask stupid questions,” Baldwin could be heard telling one of the protestors. “Ask me a smart question, and I’ll answer your question.”
While getting Oscar and Golden Globe buzz, “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig and her husband, Noah Baumbach, stopped by the star-studded festivities as well. It’s their first holiday season as a married couple since they recently tied the knot after 12 years together.
For fellow party guest Jon Hamm, 52, who married wife Anna Osceola, 35, over the summer, this is his first holiday season as a married man.
“We do decorate. That’s really nice,” he told People. “Part of that, getting the house in a place where the tree’s up and there’s stockings hung and presents are hidden and all that stuff is really fun, and it also just smells good.”
He added that the “best part” of celebrating the holidays as a new couple is “just being together.
“That’s really it. And it’s doubly nice that we’re married now and that’s really fun, but hopefully that continues on and you start creating new traditions with your family and all of those things, and that’s the best.”
Johansson, who mingled with guests in a festive red dress and white coat Thursday night, once told People that red is always in for the holidays. “Red is the perfect color for fun events,” she said. “And if I’m not wearing a red outfit, I’ll rarely step out without a red lip.”
