Sabrina Carpenter performs a surprise duet with Taylor Swift after her first set was cancelled due to weather

Taylor Swift introduced a new version of The Tortured Poets Department at her Friday night gig in Sydney, Australia, and welcomed a surprise visitor on stage!

Speaking to fans as she sat at the piano during the event, the celebrity began by saying, according to a video published on X (previously known as Twitter), “It’s good to have options. Everyone likes options, you know.” I wanted to show you something if you could turn your attention to the big screen.”

“This is an alternate cover for The Tortured Poet’s Department,” she explained, as the audience roared when they saw the revised edition of the upcoming album on the huge screen behind her.

“And so this edition is called “The Albatross” because there is an exclusive bonus song on this vinyl called “The Albatross,” and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

In addition to the big announcement, Swift had another surprise in store for her Sydney audience.

“I also have another fun thing if you want another fun thing,” Swift added. “Would you like another fun thing?”

Swift then stated that earlier in the evening she had been trying to “figure out this whole weather situation” — her show had been postponed due to rain and a nearby lightning strike — and that they only had “this window where the weather is going to be not crazy and dangerous.”

“My immensely talented, beautiful, attractive, hilarious, smart opening act, Sabrina Carpenter, bravely sacrificed her show, which I believe is a crime against Sydney. And I think it needs to be fixed, so I’m going to bring her out now; is that okay, Sydney?”

Swift was joined on stage by Carpenter, 24, who wore a silver little dress and white platform boots, as the audience yelled their delight, before the two duetted on a mix of “White Horse” and “Coney Island.”

Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, was photographed cheering her on from a VIP tent and wearing a variety of friendship bracelets. Kelce, 34, was not the only celebrity in attendance at Friday night’s event; other singers Katy Perry and Rita Ora were also sighted.

Swift, 34, flew to Australia days after supporting boyfriend Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas to play a series of sold-out gigs in Melbourne.
