Ghanaian attacking midfielder Bernard Mensah continues to surprise Saudi Arabia after beating the tournament’s top stars to win the Player of the Month award.
The 29-year-old dethroned Cristiano Ronaldo to win the November award. Mensah had an excellent month, scoring 5 goals to help Al Tai win 2 matches, draw 1 and lose 1.
As revealed by the Saudi Pro League on Twitter, the former Atletico Madrid star beat Cameroonian striker Georges Kevin N’koudou to win the award after receiving 51.7% of the votes.
The former Ghana international joined Al Tai in the summer transfer window after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor. He has scored 9 goals in 13 matches in SPL this season. Mensah also became the 5th player to score a hat-trick in the Saudi Arabian National Championship after scoring 3 goals against Al Ettifaq.
Meanwhile, Morocco and Al Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was named Keeper of the Month and Jorge Jesus won coach of the month. Al Ittihad youngster Faisal Al-Ghamdi won the Most Promising Player of the Month award.
On the other hand, Ronaldo still tops the top scorer chart with 15 goals in 14 matches.
Al Hilal comfortably defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr with a score of 3-0 in the latest “super classic” match of the Saudi Pro League that took place last weekend.
Sergei Milinkovic-Savic’s strike and Aleksandar Mitrovic’s late double gave the leaders their 13th win of the season after 15 matches in the Saudi Pro League. They are still unbeaten in all competitions this season and are aiming for their first national championship title since the 2021/22 season, 7 points ahead of competitor Al Nassr.
