During an interview, Cavill talked about the madness of the World War and how people wouldn’t believe the tale if it were made up. During his talks, Cavill revealed that Guy Ritchie did go over the top for his movie but also defended that the madness was needed for this film!
The Madness Was A Necessity For Henry Cavill And Guy Ritchie’s Film!
Based on the historical event of World War II, when several countries allied to fight the Nazis, veteran director Guy Ritchie depicts the tale of a band of soldiers who do not follow the common rules of war.
Being an ungentlemanly way to win the war, Ritchie’s upcoming film looks impressive as Henry Cavill takes the lead with some over-the-top madness. In an interview with ExtraTV, Cavill talked about how Ritchie did some over-the-top scenes in the film which were not based on true events. The Witcher actor, however, quickly defended the director by stating that the entirety of the World War was madness and that some scenes were there for just entertainment purposes rather than a real historical lesson.
“World War II. An extraordinary time. Horrendous time. When you really look back at what happened, you realize quite how mad it was. I mean, if you made it up, people would say ‘Don’t be so ridiculous. That’ll never happen and things like that would never happen within the war’”
He further continued,
“Yet they did and so, there is a responsibility to speaking to the bravery, heroism, and, madness of people like the SOE operatives. But, at the same time, it’s okay to have some fun with them”
As the interview further continued, Henry Cavill talked about director Guy Ritchie’s unique style of making movies and how the madness of Ritchie was necessary for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare!
Henry Cavill Calls It The “Guy Style“!
For the people who might not know who Guy Ritchie is, Ritchie is a veteran director known for creating some iconic movies like Sherlock Holmes, Wrath of Man, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Each of these movies shares one thing in common and there’s no better name than what Cavill calls, the “Guy style“!
“Guy style lends to that and there is absolutely an hyperbole to the telling of this story, but at the same time, it’s suitable and it’s true to the spirit of the story.”
With an ensemble cast of iconic actors alongside Henry Cavill leading the team, Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has been setting up high expectations with its trailers and promotions. The movie is set for a release date of 13 April 2024 in theaters across the U.S.
