More importantly, Schenn has a strong relationship with Leafs’ current head coach Craig Berube, who openly admires him.

“He’s an amazing guy, a true competitor. Players who reach 1,000 games in the NHL do everything right on and off the ice,” Berube recently said about Schenn.

This connection could give Toronto an edge in trade negotiations. However, they are not the only suitors—Vegas Golden Knights have also shown interest, which might drive up Schenn’s price. The 32-year-old forward has three more years remaining on his contract at $6.5 million per season and holds a no-trade clause, meaning he has control over his destination. The Swedish forward has yet to play this season due to sports hernia surgery but is nearing a return. He is expected to be back in action for the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. While Jarnkrok may not be the high-profile reinforcement fans are hoping for, his return could provide a temporary boost to Toronto’s depth.
