Real Madrid and Mbappe have agreement in principle, player offered Modric’s No. 10 jersey – report

The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga is back in the headlines, as the Frenchman closes in on the expiry of his contract with PSG with each passing day.

The 25-year-old’s current deal runs out on June 30 and there have been contradicting rumours emerging about his future. Some suggest he has agreed to join the Merengues while others indicate that he might still renew his contract with PSG, like he did in 2022.

Mbappe’s entourage came out earlier this month and stated that the forward will not be pressured into a decision and will take a call on his future on his own terms.

However, now, reports from France, as relayed by SPORT, are claiming that Real Madrid and Mbappe already have an agreement in principle for him to join the Merengues at the end of the season.

According to the aforementioned information, Los Merengues and the Frenchman’s negotiators have laid the foundations for his signing to be completed after years of rumours and talks.

Despite that, it is claimed that Mbappe intends to listen to PSG’s arguments in a final negotiation before finally closing the deal. But, it would be too late for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to reconsider his position and accept the latest offer.

Furthermore, the report states that Mbappe has been offered the No. 10 jersey by Real Madrid, which is currently worn by Luka Modric.

The 38-year-old is also in the final year of his contract and is expected to move on from the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

There had been growing optimism at PSG that they had created the situation for Mbappe to accept their latest renewal offer. But now everything indicates that continuity is nowhere near.
