Real Madrid defender has no intentions of leaving the club in the summer

Despite various rumours, a report from MARCA has emerged, saying that Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy has no intention of leaving the team this month or at the end of the season.

The Frenchman’s idea is to continue till the end of his contract as he is very much happy at the club and with Carlo Ancelotti.

Mendy’s ongoing deal with Real Madrid expires next year and the Los Blancos have made no efforts towards extending his stay.

As reported before, the management is currently in disagreement over his future and a decision will only be taken by the end of the season.

So far, Real Madrid have not shown any interest in extending Mendy’s contract and judging by the look of things, they might decide not to mostly because they are more interested in the acquisition of Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich.

Despite this, the Frenchman plans to stay with the team until his current contract ends as he is happy in Madrid and appreciates the support from Ancelotti and even Davies’ arrival will not change his decision.

He’s confident that the coach trusts him, although the club might see him as a valuable asset in potential trades over the summer.

Mendy seems determined to stay, and if Madrid want to part ways, they would need to make the move, as his contract runs until June 2025.

Right now, Real Madrid need to decide the next course of action. If Mendy stays, the club may have to let go of Fran García due to the arrival of Davies. Currently, Mendy is ahead of Garcia, who may accept a secondary role but is younger and has a contract until 2028.

It is to be noted that although Mendy started the season at a disadvantage due to a pre-season injury, he is showing signs of returning to his best form. Ancelotti considers him a reliable solution, especially evident in the Super Cup, where Mendy performed well.
