In order to take on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United team in the FA Cup Quarterfinals at Old Trafford, Jurgen Klopp made three changes to the Liverpool team that played Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League.
The only alteration to the backline was Conor Bradley making way for captain Virgil van Dijk. In the XI, Alexis Mac Allister replaced Bobby Clark at the beginning of the match. Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah kept their spots in the starting lineup in the front line, while Luis Diaz replaced Cody Gakpo on the left wing.
Following a dreary thirty minutes or so, Liverpool scored two goals right away to get back into the game. The Liverpool players’ match ratings are listed here.
Caoimhin Kellher: 7/10
Not much could be done about the first goal, and given how poorly Antony’s shot went, we should have performed better for the second. had little to do in spare time, and the backline didn’t allow him much time when he could have taken action.
Joe Gomez: 6/10
For Joey, not the best of games. After ten minutes of extra time, Kostas Tsimikas took his place.
Jarell Quansah: 6/10
Very effortless with the ball, played a significant role in Liverpool’s opening goal, and consistently showed strength.
Van Dijk, Virgil: 7/10
Virgil van Dijk’s typical display. Except for the one instance when he could have assisted Endo in the passage that resulted in United’s second equalizer, he simply played his normal game.
Andy Roberts: 7/10
Plays like though his calves are filled with a battery. scurrying around in all directions. It’s essential to manage minutes. was taken off the field in the 76th minute by Conor Bradley.
Endo Wataru: 6/10
appeared a little awkward at first, but he soon found his footing. He not, however, mark his man precisely enough, allowing Antony to score to tie the game for Manchester United.
Mac Allister, Alexis: 8/10
good placement for the duration of the first half. stitched together a couple crucial passes in the first few minutes to create opportunities. played a significant role in helping Liverpool keep control of the action in the middle of the park by taking his goal smartly.
Dominik Szoboszlai: 7/10
Excellent at recycling possession. He gave a greater performance than he had in his previous outings against United. Still, much better work could be done. The best of Szobo is still to come.
Luis Diaz: 8/10
Captain Chaos’s vice. Any full-back can find themselves in danger from him, and tonight it was Diogo Dalot’s time. Shame his above-average play was not rewarded with a goal or an assist.
Darwin Nunez: 7/10
Chief Chaos. Darwin was in the center of both of Liverpool’s first-half goals. helped the Argentine score by passing it to Alexis. took a shot at Onana that ultimately fell at Salah’s feet. It was really unwise of him to give up the ball, which Manchester United exploited to score their third goal.
Mohamed Salah: 8/10.
Initially lacked understanding of offside, but this young youngster has the potential to be a major contributor for Liverpool. remained composed to score his first goal after Onana saved a Darwin shot that ultimately found its way to Salah. came off in the 77th minute for Cody Gakpo.
Replacements
Adrian San Miguel Not used as a replacement.
Cody Gakpo: 6/10
came on in the 77th minute in place of Mohamed Salah. a figure on the front lines. occasionally forced the center backs out of position but made no other significant contributions.
Harvey Elliott: 7/10
came on in the 72nd minute in place of Szobo. Any player on the field, any one of the 22 players, deserved to score a goal. Though it was a major diversion, it was Harvey Elliott. The player has been performing incredibly well and making huge progress in a variety of positions. It was disappointing because it was worthless.
Tsimikas Kostas
Started at minute 101. Not enough to merit a rating.
Luis Diaz was replaced by Bobby Clark in the 113th minute.
Bradley Conor: 6/10
off the bench, assisted Harvey Elliott’s goal. A passable performance.
