Nicholas Galitzine’s Film Pays Homage to Tom Cruise
One scene in The Idea of You has Nicholas Galitzine dancing for Anne Hathaway in black boxer briefs, after a steamy moment they shared alone in a hotel room. This scene evokes memories of Tom Cruise‘s famous lip-sync to Old Time Rock and Roll in the movie, Risky Business.
The 29-year-old said that the Mission: Impossible star was an inspiration for the scene, but it highlights a different theme. He went on to say during a broad discussion on this week’s Just for Variety podcast:
“That was one of the references in my head. I think that’s my favorite scene actually because I think so much about what is talked about with this movie is obviously the more intimate scenes, but really I think the most powerful expression of love is the aftercare in a way and the connection after.”
Galitzine also talks about how he prepared for his role in the boy band, drawing inspiration from big names like BTS and Backstreet Boys.
Despite always reiterating, “I am not a dancer,” he brings humor and camaraderie to the set with his fellow actors. His dedication to the character, coupled with his easygoing attitude, hints at a really entertaining performance.
Nicholas Galitzine Discusses Authenticity of Intimacy in Mary & George
Nicholas Galitzine’s upcoming drama series, Mary & George, is premiering on April 5th on Starz. It’s set in England during the 17th century and promises to take viewers on an exciting adventure.
In the upcoming series, The Hammersmith native plays the role of George Villiers, a young man whose life gets tangled up in royal drama due to his ambitious mother, Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore). The show delves into the unique bond between George and King James (Tony Curran), with Galitzine stressing how crucial it is to show intimacy in a real and genuine way.
“The sex on the show is really integral to the plot and not just salacious,” the Hollywood actor explained in the same podcast. He talked about how George’s feelings for the king are real but also shows his strong desires. This thoughtful portrayal gives a new angle to historical love stories, one that goes beyond mere titillation.
The Idea of You premieres on Thursday, May 2 on Prime Video!
