Players who have won many “best of the match” titles: Messi is number 1, far surpassing Ronaldo

Recently, Pop Foot website published a list of 10 names with the highest rate of winning the “Best Player of the Match” title since 2009. To ensure competitiveness, this list only records matches. The match takes place while the player is playing for a club in the top 5 European leagues. Therefore, Ronaldo’s matches at Al Nassr or Messi’s matches at Inter Miami do not count.

10. Eden Hazard

Best rate of the match: 19.2%

Since 2009, Hazard has won the title “Best Player of the Match” 100 times. The Belgian midfielder reached his peak during his time playing for Chelsea. Unfortunately, Hazard has not been able to show himself since moving to Real in 2019. In the summer of 2023, Hazard retired after ending his contract with the Spanish team.

9. Kevin de Bruyne

Best rate of the match: 19.3%

With his excellent tactical vision and devastating shots, it is not surprising that de Bruyne is on this list. Since 2009, the 32-year-old midfielder has won the best-of-match title 86 times in 446 appearances.

8. Arjen Robben

Best rate of the match: 20.3%

7. Harry Kane

Best rate of the match: 21.2%

For a long time, Harry Kane has carried Tottenham’s attack. Despite the efforts of the England captain, Tottenham is still empty-handed. Therefore, Kane moved to play for Bayern last summer. Here, Kane played impressively with 28 goals in 27 matches. Up to now, Kane has been awarded the best of the match title 98 times in the club shirt.

6. Erling Haaland

Best rate of the match: 21.5%

Haaland is the youngest player on this list (23 years old) and also played the fewest matches (181). However, Haaland’s potential is huge. Last season, the Norwegian player and Man City won a historic treble. To date, Haaland has had the best 39 times in the match for Dortmund and Man City.

5. Kylian Mbappe

Best rate of the match: 24%

Ranked right above Haaland is the name that is expected to compete with this player for the Golden Ball title in the coming years – Mbappe. There will be more opportunities for Mbappe to perform when many sources confirm that this player will leave PSG for Real this summer.

Ibrahimovic has played football for many different clubs throughout his career. On every team, the former Swedish striker left an impression with his remarkable scoring ability. Ibra ranks 4th on the list after having a match-best 96 times in 396 appearances.

3. Neymar

2. Cristiano Ronaldo
