Lionel Messi won the FIFA The Best 2023 award by defeating two other outstanding stars, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. And after the ceremony, Messi’s vote was also revealed.

Which player did Messi vote for in FIFA The Best?

Messi’s bias can be seen when placing his Argentina teammate Julian Alvarez in 3rd place. However, the remaining 2 positions were voted on by Messi fairly. Second place belongs to former teammate at PSG, Kylian Mbappe. Meanwhile, Erling Haaland was chosen by Messi for the number 1 position. Last season, Haaland won the treble with Man City and created crazy scoring records in the Premier League.

This is the third time that Messi has won the FIFA The Best award. The Argentine superstar won this individual title in 2019 and 2022. That is enough for Messi to become the player with the most FIFA The Best titles.

Messi, Mbappe and Haaland did not attend the ceremony in London on Monday. Messi decided to stay in Miami and train with his teammates ahead of the first friendly match for the 2024 season against the El Salvador national team next Friday.

The 2024 MLS season is approaching. Messi’s Inter Miami will officially return to play on February 21 against Real Salt Lake. Until then there will be a series of friendly matches, including a match against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on February 1.
