Patrick Mahomes’ mom has slammed Hulu for airing inappropriate ads while she’s watching television with her 12-year-old daughter—and she’s not the only one who’s unhappy.
Randi Mahomes is a grandmother of two, as well as the mother of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his two siblings. She posted to social media saying the ads that appear on the streaming service make her feel “uncomfortable.”
“I know I’m old fashion but Hulu adds [sic]/commercials make me uncomfortable watching with my daughter… 🤦🏻♀️,” she posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Newsweek reached out to Hulu over email and contacted Randi Mahomes via Instagram for comment Monday.
She isn’t the only one who is unimpressed with the ads, and people took to the replies to share their concerns over what they see. Many have said they’re unhappy with the sexual nature of some of the adverts.

“Nothing says prime time family tv like an 8 year old asking ‘what is erectile dysfunction?'” one person commented on her post.
“They make me uncomfortable watching with myself,” said another.
“I am as well. We need more people like you standing up for what’s right,” a third person wrote.
A fourth added: “Some of these ads nowadays are so bad. Like yeah I don’t need to hear about THAT while I’m watching Modern Family.”
Others posted on Hulu community boards to express their discomfort.
“Why is Hulu showing so many sexually related ads? Seven out of 10 ads that I get on Hulu are sexually related. I’m tired of it. I’m disgusted and honestly disturbed. Condom commercials, erectile disfunction [sic] medications, last longer in “bed” remedies and to finish it all off, lots and I mean lots of dating apps,” one person wrote.
“I’m not interested in dating, I have a partner and I for sure am not interested in any of that sexual stuff. All I want Is normal family-friendly commercials. Like the ones I used to get.”
Someone else replied: “We canceled our Hulu tonight because of the inappropriate ads.”
This isn’t the only issue of concern that people have with the streaming service. Others have expressed how unhappy they are with the cost of subscribing to the platform.
On December 3 an X user posted: “Hulu is $40, Disney is $20, Netflix is ???, Max is $20, Peacock is $15. Streaming was supposed to replace cable…”
As of December 4, the post had been viewed over 6 million times. While there isn’t a Hulu plan that costs $40 outright, depending on what add-ons and subscriptions you have, it is possible to reach close to this amount, if not more. Hulu offers two subscription options, starting with its ad-supported plan for $7.99 a month and its plan with no ads for $17.99 a month.
The company also offers a variety of Hulu and live TV plans, ranging from $75.99 a month to $89.99 a month. As well as this, customers can purchase a variety of add-ons, such as ESPN+ and SHOWTIME, which range from $2 a month to $15.99 a month.
People took to the replies of the tweet to share how upset they were with Hulu prices.
“Like seriously!!! Smh. And remember you have to pay a damn internet bill in order to have all that,” one person wrote.
“I said from day 1 we’d all be paying more eventually. It’s always a trap,” said another.
“Hulu Live told me $76. Baby wtf??” a third person replied.
A fourth added: “I remember when Netflix first came out, someone predicted that this would happen… instead of cable packages we would be picking our own channels to stream…”
However, others shared tips on how to pay less for streaming, with many expressing how shocked they were that the original poster was spending so much.
“That’s why I always get the black Friday deals of streaming services…peacock $5 a month for a whole year, HBO max $2.99 for six month. I think Netflix was the only service that didn’t have a black Friday deal,” one person explained.
“Paying $40 for Hulu is insane when they just had their Black Friday 99cent sale,” said another.
“You’re supposed to pick one. I literally only have Netflix rn,” someone else wrote.
