2018 season: Patriots 37, Chiefs 31 (OT)
The first crack at a shot for the AFC Championship was a thriller. There were four different scores in the final 3:32 of regulation, culminating in a Harrison Butker 39-yard field goal to send the game to OT. New England won it on a Rex Burkhead 2-yard run. Mahomes was 16-of-31 for 295 yards with three TD passes against Tom Brady, who threw for 348 and a TD.
2019 season: Chiefs 35, Titans 24
Mahomes heads to his first Super Bowl after leading the Chiefs past the Titans. He had a 27-yard rushing TD with 11 seconds to go in the first half to make it 21-17 for KC. The game-breaker was a 60-yard throw to Sammy Watkins midway through the final quarter. Mahomes went 23-of-35 for 294 yards and a trio of TD passes.
2020 season: Chiefs 38, Bills 24
The Chiefs trailed 9-0 before erupting for 21 points in the second quarter. The lead ballooned to 38-15 before Buffalo scored twice in the final period. Mahomes was 29-of-38 for 325 and three TD passes.
2021 season: Cincinnati 27, Kansas City 24 (OT)
The Chiefs played OT for a second straight week but lost to the Bengals after beating the Bills. Harrison Butker kicked a 44-yard field goal to force overtime. However, Evan McPherson hit the game-winner from 31 in the extra period. Mahomes was 26-of-39 for 275 with three TD passes and two picks.
2022 season: Chiefs 23, Bengals 20
Mahomes was 29-of-43 for 326 and two TDs passing. The Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl when Butker kicked a 45-yard field goal with three seconds remaining,
