Captured on March 22 by local camera man Channarong Tom Srisa-ard, 28, the area is an elephant conservation area which supports the ethical treatment of the species.

It comes weeks after a clip emerged from the same area where a ‘nanny’ elephant demonstrated to a cautious baby one how to roll around and have fun in the mud.

In the footage, the adult elephant dove into the mud – covering itself from head to toe – while the baby elephant watched on and learned.

Filmed at the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand by Save the Asian Elephants volunteer, Steph Snowdon, the video showed the calf walking towards the mud patch ready to give the wallowing a go itself.

The calf followed the adult elephant’s lead and fell straight on to the soft ground.

The Save the Asian Elephants (STAE) CEO, Duncan McNair, who is a leading lawyer and animal rights campaigner, posted the sweet video on Facebook on March 3.
