The Time When Henry Cavill Was Almost Cancelled By Hollywood
Henry Cavill has found himself surrounded by numerous controversies over the years. From being called out for dating a teenager while in his 30s to claiming that age-appropriate relationships with women having established careers aren’t easy (via Yahoo Entertainment and WeGotThisCovered), there have been many instances where the Man of Steel star was close to being canceled out for good.
However, one of his most controversial moments was when he gave an interview to GQ Australia and expressed his feelings about the groundbreaking #MeToo movement and his fears of being misunderstood by women due to the issue.
“Stuff has to change, absolutely. It’s important to also retain the good things, which were a quality of the past, and get rid of the bad things. There’s something wonderful about a man chasing a woman. There’s a traditional approach to that, which is nice. I think a woman should be wooed and chased, but maybe I’m old-fashioned for thinking that.”
While this was enough to draw the anger of fans, his next statement caused the most controversy,
“It’s very difficult to do that if there are certain rules in place. Because then it’s like: ‘Well, I don’t want to go up and talk to her, because I’m going to be called a r-pist or something’.”
Cavill, even though he has been called an absolute gentleman many times by his female co-stars, had then bear the brunt of extreme public scrutiny by fans.
