Bayern Munich superstar Alphonso Davies has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months. His contract expiring in 2025 has only furthered Los Blancos’ interest, for they hope to acquire his services for a bargain fee this summer.
The German champions, however, are putting up a strong fight to resist his departure. Thomas Tuchel and co. see him to be a vital part of their future project, especially given his age and high ceiling.
Speaking in a recent interview, Davies, whose market value stands at €70 million, was asked about his situation at Bayern Munich and how he feels at the Bavarian institution amidst links with Real Madrid.
“I feel very comfortable with my team. I play in a great team, with one of the best clubs ever in Europe,” he said via the German Kicker.
Davies’ response was unsurprisingly diplomatic, especially considering that he is under contract with Bayern Munich and that the season is just over halfway through.
There is word, however, that he is resisting Bayern Munich’s renewal attempts to push through a move in June.
For a long time now, Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies have been stuck at a standstill. Contractual talks have been frozen, with the player hoping to pioneer his dream move.
A recent update, however, brings worrying news to the Spanish offices. As revealed earlier last week, there is now a solid chance the left-back will sign a new deal with the German club after they improved their offer to him significantly.
It remains to be seen what backup plan Real Madrid have in mind if the youngster opts to continue under Tuchel.
Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy are Real Madrid’s current options at left-back but have not totally convinced in the current season.
