Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland are on the list of nominees for prestigious awards at the 25th Laureus World Sports Awards.
Messi nominated for ‘Sports Oscar’
Laureus World Sports Awards was founded in 2000, to honor the best athletes and sports teams each year. This award is considered the “Oscar of world sports” and has very high prestige in the sports industry.

Haaland, who competed with Messi for the Ballon d’Or and FIFA The Best titles, shared his thoughts on the Laureus World Sports Awards: “Last year was a very special year for me and the whole team. I couldn’t score.” so many goals without my wonderful teammates, coaches and staff at the club. Without them success would not have been possible. I am really proud to be nominated for Laureus Athlete of the Year category alongside so many other incredible athletes.”
Elsewhere, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is among the candidates for the breakthrough athlete of the year category. He will compete with runner Josh Kerr, teenage tennis star Coco Gauff, Chinese swimmer Qin Haiyang and soccer players Linda Caicedo and Salma Paralluelo for the award.
The Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony will take place in Madrid on April 22. Messi is expected to continue winning to further enhance his flashy record.
