Max Verstappen’s girlfriend scores points with his family as she shares photos of the birthday party she painstakingly prepared for Max Verstappen’s mother, Sophie Kumpen

Sophie Kumpen, Max Verstappen’s mother, turns 50 years old on 30 October. The party was celebrated in advance last Sunday, and Kelly Piquet, Verstappen’s girlfriend, shared images of this on Instagram.

In her younger years, Kumpen, like her ex-husband, Jos Verstappen, and their son, was also a racing driver. Among others, she raced against former world champion Jenson Button and three-time race winner Giancarlo Fisichella. She even managed to beat Jarno Trulli at the 1995 Andrea Margutti Trophy. In 1996, Kumpen married Jos Verstappen, after which she ended her racing career and started focusing on raising Max and Victoria.

Currently, there is a somewhat longer break in Formula 1. So for Kumpen, this was a good time to celebrate her birthday a few weeks earlier. If she had celebrated it on her original birthday, it would have fallen in the middle of the triple header, meaning Max would not have been able to attend.

Kelly Piquet also attended the party and shared several images on her Instagram stories, posting pictures of the decorations with ’50’ on them. It also included a photo showing Penelope, Piquet’s child, posing with Minnie Mouse along with Sophie and Victoria’s children. Check out the photos below.

Sophie Kumpen, the mother of Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen, will be celebrating her 50th birthday on October 30th. However, the festivities commenced early last Sunday, with Verstappen’s girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, offering fans a glimpse into the joyous occasion through images shared on her Instagram account.

Before dedicating herself to raising her children, Kumpen, much like her ex-husband Jos Verstappen and their son Max, had a career in motorsport. Her racing past saw her compete against notable figures in Formula 1, including former world champion Jenson Button and three-time race winner Giancarlo Fisichella. Notably, she even triumphed over Jarno Trulli at the 1995 Andrea Margutti Trophy, showcasing her talent on the track. In 1996, Kumpen married Jos Verstappen, a union that led her to step away from racing to focus on nurturing the early years of Max and their daughter, Victoria.
