After missing out on Xabi Alonso, the Reds have turned their attention towards bringing Ruben Amorim to Anfield, while other candidates have also been considered.
Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this week that Liverpool are still discussing internally and have not taken any firm decision about appointing the next manager.
However, Portuguese journalist, Pedro Sepulveda, claims that the Reds now hope to reach a “full agreement” with Amorim as early as next week. The 39-year-old manager has done a brilliant job with Sporting Lisbon, and he is prepared to join Liverpool.
Sepuleveda wrote on X: “This Sporting victory over Benfica today by 2-1 will speed up negotiations between Ruben Amorim and Liverpool. The Reds hope to reach a full agreement on the terms of the contract next week with the Portuguese coach.”
Liverpool have other priorities right now
Amorim is a brilliant manager, and it appears that the Reds may have found the right candidate. It won’t be easy for any manager to fill the boots of Jurgen Klopp, but Liverpool have a proper structure in place that will help the new manager continue the legacy.
Liverpool probably will reach an agreement secretly and not make it public at the moment, because it might hamper their present campaign. The Reds are chasing Premier League and Europa League glory and they do not want any distraction.
At the same time, the timing of the announcement is also important. Liverpool will want to give their beloved manager a perfect farewell, and any official announcement can only take place after Klopp leaves.
