“I said, ‘Dude, if you ever do Top Gun 2...’-which was not near its conception-‘I will even be a janitor-just let me be in it,'” said Hamilton of his encounter with Cruise.
They both became good friends and Cruise even invited Hamilton to the set of his sci-fi action movie with Emily Blunt “The Edge of Tomorrow” back in 2014.
“My assistant called me: ‘Tom Cruise has invited you to the set.’ I was just like: ‘Shoot, yeah?! Cancel anything, I have,'” Hamilton mentioned.
Tom Cruise took Hamilton’s word and offered him a part in the sequel to the legendary fighter plane movie, however, the F1 races were happening during the filming and Lewis could not take the time off to be on set with a tight filming schedule.
“Firstly, I hadn’t even had, like, an acting lesson,” he said. “And I don’t want to be the one that lets this movie down. And then secondly, I just really didn’t have the time to dedicate to it.”

Danny Ramirez who took the part after Hamilton said no thanked the racer via X for canceling his appearance in the movie “When Joe Kosinski introduced us and said that Lewis’ role was gonna be Fanboy, I thanked him for saying no haha. Appreciate the assist @LewisHamilton,”.
