The garment comes from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s label The Row
Jennifer Lawrence brought the red to the red carpet on Monday.
The Oscar winner dressed for the chilly New York City weather in a luxe, oversize red coat while attending the Broadway opening of the Second Stage Theater play, Appropriate.
The garment — a double-faced cashmere, calf-length, collarless coat with padded shoulders and two front pockets — comes from The Row, the luxury fashion label established by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Made in Italy, it retails for $9, 990.
Photographers snapped pictures of Lawrence as she posed in front of the play’s step-and-repeat outside the Hayes Theater. Under her jacket, she wore a flowing black silk slip dress with a drop neckline. The actress accessorized the look with black kitten heels and gold hoop earrings.

Appropriate, meanwhile, has earned across-the-board rave reviews.
The play, by Pulitzer Prize finalist Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, follows a trio of siblings who return to their father’s Arkansas home to handle the remains of his estate after his death. “Suddenly, long-hidden secrets and buried resentments can’t be contained, and the family is forced to face the ghosts of their past,” reads a longline for the drama.
Sarah Paulson leads an all-star cast, which includes Corey Stoll, Michael Esper and Elle Fanning, who is making her Broadway debut. Graham Campbell, Lincoln Cohen, Natalie Gold, Alyssa Emily Marvin and Everett Sobers also star.
Appropriate is directed by Lila Neugebauer, who helmed Lawrence 2022’s film, Causeway. The two posed together on the red carpet together Monday night.
Other stars in attendance included Amber Tamblyn, Rose Byrne, Meghann Fahy, Jane Krakowski, Amanda Peet, Andrew Rannells, Rebecca Hall, Tavi Gevinson, Jim Parsons, Michael Imperioli, Eduardo Ramos, Danny Burstein, Jennifer Simard, Miriam Silverman, Camryn Manheim, Morgan Spector, married pair Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam.
Paulson’s girlfriend Holland Taylor was there too, as was Zachary Quinto, Paulson’s American Horror Story costar. Colton Ryan, who starred opposite Fanning in The Girl from Plainville, attended as well.
Appropriate marks Paulson’s first time back on Broadway in 13 years. The Emmy winner was last in 2010’s Collected Stories. She also appeared in 2005’s The Glass Menagerie and The Sisters Rosensweig in 1993.

“I just was blown away by the writing,” Paulson told Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek on The Broadway Show last month, when discussing what inspired her return to the stage. “And just thought, ‘If I’m going to do a play, it had to rival something else that I might traditionally find myself doing that would be interesting enough because the commitment is different than doing a film or television piece.’ “
She continued, “I wanted it to be something that I feel could be constantly compelling and something where you’re constantly needing to work. It’s not just coming in and trying to do a Xerox copy of what you did the night before. That’s really exciting to me. And also exciting to me to do now as the actor I hope I am that I wasn’t the last time I was on stage. Hopefully that will encourage deeper, richer, better work.”
