Jennifer Lawrence falls in the $4 million dress.

Weeks, and even months, go into getting celebrities red carpet-ready for the biggest night in showbiz.

Not for Jennifer Lawrence! In 2013, Jennifer was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook and only tried her Dior Couture gown on the morning of the starstudded ceremony. Needless to say, she was relieved that it fit!

Jennifer wore one of the most unforgettable dresses of the night, an ivory Dior Haute Couture gown, but maybe she should have practised walking in it a bit more as the star famously took a tumble as she went to accept her golden statue.

Now, years later, Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about all the drama behind her infamous Oscars fall and how she stood up to those who accused her of faking it!

Jennifer Lawrence was already a Dior woman at this stage and there was no real surprise that she would wear one for the French fashion house’s designs on the night. She had already worn Dior to three major award shows that year including the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and the BAFTAs.

Before the big night, Jennifer told reporters at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Los Angeles that she was taking a different red carpet approach, saying: ‘This year, I’m like, “Suck it up, wear a corset.” I am going to go for fashion this time.’

And if all else failed, the actress clearly had a plan B, as she added: ‘I’m gonna wear sweat pants.’

Sweat pants it was not. Jennifer looked utterly radiant in a demure yet beautifully dramatic gown from Raf Simmons’ 2013 Dior Couture collection on the night.

It was a drop-waisted gown with a strapless neckline and a textured and wonderfully voluminous double-layered skirt.

She accessorised the gorgeous gown with Chopard earrings and a necklace that draped elegantly down her back and topped it off with a Roger Vivier clutch.

It’s understandable that suffering a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet in front of the popping lights of the paparazzi must be quite embarrassing.

Yet, Jennifer was the victim of a truly awful wardrobe disaster as she took to the stage to accept the Oscar for Best Actress. She slipped on the stairs and fell to her hands and knees.

The Hollywood starlet handled the tumble with incredible grace and even began her Oscar acceptance speech addressing it rather than ignoring it.

Jennifer addressed the crowd, saying: ‘Thank you. You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell and that’s really embarrassing but thank you.’

At the press conference afterwards talk should have been centred around Jennifer’s incredible achievement of winning an Oscar at only 22-year-old but some reporters were more interested the fact that she had tripped.

Ever her hilarious and charming self, the Oscar-award winner fended off reporters questions with razor-sharp wit.

When asked by a reporter from E! News if her fall was ‘on purpose’, she replied: ‘Was that on purpose? Absolutely. What do you mean, “What happened?” Look at this dress!’

‘I tried to walk upstairs in this dress – that’s what happened. I think I just stepped on the fabric and they waxed the stairs or something.’

Then, when asked what was going through her mind when she took the tumble, she honestly replied: ‘A bad word that I can’t say. That starts with an F.’

Now, Jennifer Lawrence has revealed what really happened on that faithful night. Appearing on the Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan podcast she said that she can look back on the whole ordeal fondly now but that for a long time she was very cut up about it.

In the podcast, she revealed that she didn’t want to jinx herself on the night so she didn’t write down her speech: ‘I ready for it. I was very nervous and also very superstitious. I didn’t want to acknowledge the possibility that I would win. I didn’t want to write down a speech.’

‘I had everything in my head. I was very, very nervous but I was ready. All of the adrenaline clears out and they call my name and I’m elated and I’m in shock. And then I fell, and it erased everything from my mind. My full brain went blank. I can look back at it now fondly but for a very long time the fall thing was very sensitive.’

The 30-year-old then explained that things took a very upsetting turn when she saw Anderson Cooper, the CNN news anchor, accusing her of faking her fall a few days later.

She explained: ‘I saw him on CNN like three days later saying that “well she obviously faked the fall” and it was and it was so devastating because it was this horrific humiliation to me.’

‘I don’t know if I’ll ever have a chance to give a speech like that again, so it didn’t feel good for me not to have a speech.’

Jennifer admitted that she was so bothered by the reporter’s claims that she approached him at a later Christmas party to set the record straight.

Spilling all the tea about the confrontation, Jennifer revealed she truly: ‘Let him know.’

‘My friend told me a vein was bulging out of my eyes. He apologized. I think we’re good friends now.’

‘On my end, we’re all good. What I led with was, “Have you ever tried to walk upstairs in a ball gown? So then how do you know?”‘

The actress explained that Anderson Cooper: ‘Apologized immediately and said he didn’t know and gave this wonderful apology. I was all fired up … He probably told everyone I was a psycho.’

We are all human and mistakes happen and Jennifer Lawrence handled the whole situation like the absolute queen she is.

We haven’t got to accept an Oscar in  Dior Haute Couture, so we’ll have to take her at her word that it’s a tricky feat.
