Henry Cavill Transforms Into X-Men ’97 Style Magneto in New Artwork

The latest fan casting idea to go viral for Henry Cavill imagines the actor playing the Marvel character Magneto.

In X-Men ’97, Magneto has been given a makeover, sporting long, white hair with a large “M” emblazoned on the front of his costume. Following the animated show’s premiere, the popular digital artist BossLogic shared an image taken of new artwork featuring Henry Cavill playing a live-action incarnation of this version of Magneto. With his look from The Witcher, Cavill already had the appropriate hairstyle for the role, and some fans are finding it interesting to see him imagined in the part. The post can be viewed below.

Though he was established as one of the most popular Superman actors as part of the DCEU, Henry Cavill has yet to join the MCU. Many fans have been imagining Cavill in different Marvel roles for many years, picturing him as characters like Wolverine, Hercules, Sentry, and Hyperion. One of the most popular ideas is for Cavill to play Captain Britain, which the actor himself has said he would be open to.

“I have the internet, and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain, and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British,” Cavill said to THR in 2021.

Will Henry Cavill Join the DCU?

Meanwhile, it’s also possible that Cavill could play another DC character in the future. While the DCU cast David Corenswet to play the new Superman, Cavill could potentially be brought in later to play another character from that world. Meanwhile, he’s keeping busy with other projects he’s got on his plate. That includes a planned Warhammer 40K adaptation. As for what’s next first, he can be seen back on the big screen alongside Alan Ritchson in the upcoming Guy Ritchie movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which releases in theaters on April 19.

X-Men ’97 is a continuation of the original 90s cartoon, X-Men: The Animated Series, though it did come with some select character makeovers. There have also been some changes with the casting, including a new voice for Magneto. After the character was originally voiced by David Hemblen, who passed away in 2020, Magneto is now voiced by Matthew Waterson.

X-Men ’97 is streaming on Disney+ following its streaming premiere on the platform on March 20.
