Henry Cavill stopped drinking water before showing off his muscles

Responding to the BBC , the actor said he went through rigorous training to play the character Geralt of Rivia in the fantasy action series released on December 20 . He followed a three-day dehydration regimen to have the most toned body for  scenes showing off his muscles.  “The first day, I drank 1.5 liters of water. The second day, reduce it to half a liter. Right before filming, I didn’t drink a sip,” Henry said. Besides dehydration, he did push-ups for a few hours at the studio before filming.

The actor said he felt bad about his training regimen but accepted it to have a satisfactory scene. He said: “When dieting, you already feel uncomfortable but that is not enough compared to having to lose water. On the last day, I could smell the surrounding water sources.”

According to Henry, the most important thing when filming an action movie is that the actor must be in good health to endure physical exercises and act in scenes with a risk of injury. Playing the main role in The Witcher series , he encountered many inconveniences when he had to wear a long wig and contact lenses according to his character’s appearance.

The Witcher is Netflix’s new fantasy action series, based on the original novel by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The work revolves around a fictional world with magic and ghostly creatures. The main character is monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher  was famous before its release because it was adapted into a role-playing video game. The third part of the game series (released in 2015) sold more than 40 million copies and was ranked by many magazines as one of the best games of all time.
