Gal Gadot’s Fashion Finesse: A Closer Look at Her Stunning Style Evolution.

She’s been a combat instructor, a law student, and Miss Israel. It’s safe to say that Gal Gadot has gone from strength to strength. After being persuaded by her mother to compete in the pageant almost two decades ago, the star has since made her name in Hollywood as one of the most down-to-earth superheroes to grace cinema.

Since her early years, Gadot has been a lover of plunging necklines and figure-hugging tailoring. From the sleeveless black sequined dress she wore to the Fast & Furious global premiere in 2013 to its elevated version by Saint Laurent at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2020, the actress has remained true to her style throughout her decades-long career and her journey into motherhood. Off-duty, the star can be spotted in more relaxed outfits, usually comprising oversized shirts and sneakers like the Adidas Sambas, a recent celebrity favourite. Despite her busy schedule, it looks like Gadot’s got her finger on the pulse of Instagram’s hottest fashion trends. We always knew Wonder Woman could do it all.

Taking the world by storm with her Lasso of Truth, Gal Gadot dazzles as Wonder Woman in this DC blockbuster. The heroine was raised in Themyscira, an island exclusively of Amazonian female warriors born to save humankind. The only thing we have to say about a female-only island is: where does one sign up?

Ah, the movie where it all began. In the fourth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise, the then-24-year-old Gadot starred in her first major film role as Gisele Yashar. Armed with her experience as a combat instructor at the Israel Defense Services, Gadot completed almost all of her own stunts throughout her time on this franchise. Yes, that includes jumping from a moving motorcycle to a Jeep in a later instalment.

The Bishop, Red Notice (2021)

Starring alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, Gadot plays The Bishop in this comedy-packed movie where all three are on the hunt for one of Queen Cleopatra’s lost golden eggs. Her character takes on the two men effortlessly with a spear — and in a stunning red gown, no less. Who can focus on those ancient eggs when the thief herself is the true work of art?

Jealousy rises, hatred spews, and a murderer is on the loose – Gadot plays heiress Linnet Ridgeway whose honeymoon is interrupted by a mysterious murder, and everyone onboard is made suspect. We can’t spill on who is at large, but we can confirm that Gadot stole the show wearing the famous 128-carat Tiffany Yellow Diamond. Best costume design ever? Affirmative.

5 Things To Know About Gal Gadot

A Wonder Woman through and through

by ALYANNA RAISSA J. PAYOS

29 JUN 2023

Her duality is unmatched

Before Gal Gadot entered the world of film and television, she took up law at what is now known as Reichman University, Israel’s only private college. Prior to that, Gadot served her country as a combat trainer for the Israeli Defense Forces organising programs for those in the army— but not after being crowned Miss Israel in 2004.

She stars in her co-produced film Heart of Stone

Netflix’s Heart of Stone has Gal Gadot written all over it. A story of an international intelligence agent tasked with the dangerous mission of protecting her peacekeeping organisation’s most valuable asset, the film is action-packed, empowering, and female driven. And it comes as no surprise. Not only does Gadot star as leading lady Rachel Stone, together with her husband, she’s also among the film’s list of producers.

She founded a production company with her husband

On a mission of her own to develop meaningful stories that resonate with her as an actress, Gal Gadot teamed up with her husband Jaron Varsano to form Pilot Wave Motion Pictures in late 2019. Apart from the upcoming Heart of Stone, the company has produced National Geographic’s short-form documentary series Impact with Gal Gadot, and in partnership with Warner Bros. is currently working on the historical thriller, Irena Sendler.

She’s a huge foodie at heart

In an exclusive interview with Vogue Hong Kong, the actress reveals some of her favourite comfort foods. “So if we’re talking about Israel, I love bourekas, it’s like a pastry with a crispy dough and cheese in it.” Pita bread with falafel, salad and tahini, and a classic American cheeseburger with fries are also close contenders. But if there’s one food not to doubt her love for, its a good ol’ mac and cheese. She is after all, the founding partner of Goodles, a mac  and cheese company that brings nutritional value into the mix. pilot

She once made the TIME 100 Most Influential List

In 2018, TIME named Gal Gadot one of the most influential people of the year for her inspiring performance as Wonder Woman. American actress Lynda Carter of the 1970s Wonder Woman television series wrote for the magazine saying, “Her portrayal was magnificent and powerful, capturing everything that Wonder Woman represents.”

The It-Girls’ Current Favourite Trainer Has History

The Adidas Samba trainers launched in 1950 are basking in the fashion spotlight

by ALICE CARY

29 JUN 2023

Adidas Samba trainers have stood the test of time. Even sneakerheads, who stay tapped into the latest buzzy drops, agree.

The runners launched in 1950 and have since become one of Adidas’s all-time bestsellers owing to their affordable price tag, accessibility (no queues for these retro lace-ups) and history.

Having served many an athlete during its early years, the Samba is most famously associated with the 1970s, when the three stripes become an emblem of football terraces.

In the 1990s, the Gallagher brothers nodded to terrace culture during their Oasis heyday, meaning that the Sambas – and Adidas’s other popular shape, the Gazelle – became an emblem of pop culture. In Danny Boyle’s 1996 cult film Trainspotting, lead character Mark Renton, played by Ewan McGregor, wears burgundy Samba Supers.

Modern takes are more fashion than football. Evidence that Adidas Sambas aren’t going anywhere comes courtesy of the It-girls. Footwear fanatic Emily Ratajkowski, who also owns sporty styles from Nike and Reebok, is a Samba fan. Kaia Gerber dresses down her French-girl essentials with the trusty sneakers, while Bella Hadid offsets her bright vintage threads with classic Sambas.

A trainer needs little introduction when it’s received Rihanna’s seal of approval. At moments when her rare sneakers look too splashy, Rih swears by the Adidas original. Take her decision to wear Sambas instead of her go-to Amina Muaddi heels with a Nensi Dojaka LBD last summer. The singer’s partner A$AP Rocky is also a fan.

The latest It-girl to rock the Samba? Katie Holmes, naturally, who was spotted out in New York City this week wearing a retro-inspired print dress by Sézane with a black and white pair of the popular trainers.

As well as the original colourways, the fashion pack swears by styles from London-based designer Grace Wales Bonner, who has released delectable versions in dopamine hues for her seasonal collaborations with Adidas.

Bonner’s fresh takes on the Samba take inspiration from her heritage and a vast array of references, from the British-Jamaican community in London in the ’70s and Jamaica in the early ’80s to dancehall music. “The Samba trainers have a rich football heritage and they naturally integrated and transformed the wardrobes of many cultural icons,” she previously told Vogue, adding that it felt like a “natural choice” to include them in her collections.

Step into the Vogue office and you’re likely to spy a Samba or two. Join the club with our pick of the best colourways, below.
