Shakira’s ex-partner Gerard Pique discusses their public break-up

Singer Shakira’s ex-partner, retired soccer player Gerard Pique, broke his silence on their public break-up.

Shakira and Pique announced their split in June 2022 after a decade together and share twin sons, Milan and Sasha.

In an interview withEl Pais, Pique made it clear that he hasn’t previously spoken out for the sake of his children.

“It is about protecting them. That is the job of all parents with children. That is what I am focused on; that is my job as a father,” he explained.

Since the break-up, Pique, 36, has started dating 23-year-old student Clara Chia and the two haven’t kept quiet about their love, sharing cute snaps on social media.

Pique clarified that he was “very happy,” and shared that he had no regrets because of his unique outlook on life.

“I keep doing what I want. The day I die, I will look back and hope I have always done what I wanted. I want to be faithful to myself. I’m not going to spend money cleaning up my image,” he revealed.

Pique also added that he just wants to focus on his family and true friends and not worry about his image in the media.

“The people that I love and care about are the ones who know me,” he said. “The rest isn’t important to me. I spend my energy on being with my loved ones and giving them what I have. I’m very happy.

“There have been changes in my life, and I have known how to preserve happiness.”

This might be the first time Pique has spoken about the split, but Shakira has already made her feeling clear about the demise of their relationship.

“Everything is so raw and new. I can only say that I put everything I had into this relationship and my family,” she told Elle in November 2022.

The famous singer also recently dropped a revealing banger, Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53, with the lyrics: “You left me your mother as my neighbour, media outlets at my door and in debt with the government.

“You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger. Women don’t cry anymore, and they cash in.”

She also seemed to take a dig at her Pique’s new relationship.

“I’m worth two 22-year-olds. You swapped a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo/You swapped a Rolex for a Casio.”

Pique famously partnered with the watch brand Casio soon afterwards.

After the song went viral, Shakira allegedly turned a witch doll on her balcony and positioned it facing in the direction of Pique’s mother’s house.
