- Scarlet Witch could potentially make appearances in other movies or TV shows before headlining her own project, such as Doctor Strange 3 or the Vision Quest pseudo-sequel.
- The upcoming Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is a strong contender for Scarlet Witch’s return, given Agatha’s connection to Wanda and hints from actor Asif Ali.
Every Cameo We Could See In Doctor Strange 2
Scarlet Witch’s return to the MCU is imagined in a bold solo movie fan poster over a year after the character’s on-screen death. Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, has had a tumultuous character journey in the MCU. Starting off as a secondary antagonist to the Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she eventually joined the superhero team before ultimately being corrupted by the Darkhold and ending her own life. However, that hasn’t stopped speculation over where Scarlet Witch could appear next in the MCU.
Artist skaiwitch (via Instagram) has posted their take on what Wanda’s return to the MCU could look like in a solo movie should she find a way back from the dead. See the full image below:
The poster understandably doesn’t give much away in terms of potential villains or stories, but it notably gives Wanda a fresh new look to signify how she’s changed. Gone is the ornate Scarlet Witch outfit or magical headdress. Instead, Wanda’s new proposed MCU costume seems to be simple cloth robes of some sort and runic markings across her face.
MCU Movies & TV Shows Scarlet Witch Could Return In Before A Solo Movie
If Scarlet Witch returns to the MCU, it’s likely she’ll first show up in another movie or TV show before headlining her own project. Given her deep ties to the occult and the fact that she died in a Doctor Strange movie, Wanda could reasonably show up in the unconfirmed Doctor Strange 3. On the small screen, WandaVision pseudo-sequel Vision Quest could be an unconventional choice for Scarlet Witch to return. While the show is unlikely to deal with magic, Vision’s long history with Wanda Maximoff would make an appearance fitting. If Scarlet Witch returns as a variant, Avengers 5 or 6 also makes sense.
Though her death isn’t actually seen in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, the official MCU timeline book confirms that Scarlet Witch is, in fact, dead.
However, the upcoming (and repeatedly renamed) Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is presently the frontrunner for a Scarlet Witch return. It would make sense thematically as Agatha first appeared in WandaVision and was last seen ensnared by a Scarlet Witch hex, and the rumors have been bolstered by comments from WandaVision and Agatha: Darkhold Diaries actor Asif Ali, who replied to a question about Wanda appearing in the latter show with a simple “Yes!” The post has since been deleted, so it’s unclear if the actor made a mistake of if he revealed something he wasn’t supposed to. Time will tell if and when Scarlet Witch really does appear again.
