Elizabeth Olsen nearly changed name to break from famous sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley

Elizabeth Olsen confessed she didn’t want to be associated with her famous sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley while she was growing up

Elizabeth Olsen has admitted she didn’t want to be linked to her famous sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley at first.

So much so, the star even considered changing her name to Elizabeth Chase — using her middle name as her surname — to avoid being tied to the famous twins.

Since then, the actress has cemented a place in the spotlight in her own right in her huge TV role on WandaVision.

But Elizabeth remembered what it was like growing up in the shadow of her TV icon sisters at the age of 10.

She told Glamour UK : “I was 10 and I was curious about auditioning… and I realised very quickly it wasn’t for me because I was missing my sports teams, my dance class and all the extracurricular activities at school.

“But during that time, I thought ‘I don’t want to be associated with [Mary-Kate and Ashley]’, for some reason. I guess I understood what nepotism was like inherently as a 10-year-old. I don’t know if I knew the word, but there is some sort of association of not earning something that I think bothered me at a very young age.

“It had to do with my own insecurities, but I was 10. So I don’t know how much I processed, but I did think, ‘I’m going to be Elizabeth Chase [her middle name] when I become an actress.’”

The pair no longer act and have been notoriously private about their lives off-screen.

They begun their acting career at nine months old sharing a role in sitcom Full House.

In a recent interview, Elizabeth explained her sisters’ powerful rule that she now lives her life by.

She said on Off Camera With Sam Jones: “I think there are two things, something my sisters always say which might have come from my father at one point…

“That ‘no’ is a full sentence. You can just say ‘no’.

“I really like that, especially as a woman, I just really like that in all aspects of life.”
