NFC East hostilities between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles will be renewed at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, with a lot on the line.
The Cowboys have positioned themselves to take over the division lead (albeit briefly), and the NFC race is also heating up.
Last time the two heavyweights clashed, the Eagles emerged victorious 28-23. But the Cowboys – had it not been for Dak Prescott’s step out of bounds, or Luke Schoonmaker being tackled on the goal line, or the three Eagles fumbles all bouncing back to them – might have won the contest.
“We obviously had a bad taste in our mouths not coming out victorious,” CeeDee Lamb said, reflecting on that day. “But we got to lock in, obviously hone in on the penalties, and try to put our best game yet together on the season. By doing that, we got to be physical, fast, be hungry.”
But the Cowboys’ Super Bowl credentials will get the sternest of tests over the next month – starting with the Eagles. After Sunday night, Dallas will face Buffalo and Miami in back-to-back road games before welcoming the Detroit Lions to AT&T Stadium.
December is where the “real football” starts for quarterback Dak Prescott, and with the ‘bad taste” of the Week 9 loss being the catalyst for the Cowboys to get revenge, the next chapter in this storied rivalry won’t be for the faint-hearted.
But it might, if CeeDee gets his way, feature the sweet taste of success.
