On Sunday, Streisand said she thinks the most recent A Star Is Born remake was ‘the wrong idea’.
The 79-year-old music icon starred alongside Kris Kristofferson in the third iteration of the romantic drama film in 1976, after two previous versions in 1954 – which starred Judy Garland and James Manson – and in 1937, with leads Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.
In 2018, the film was remade again with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the main roles, after previous rumours had indicated that Beyonce and Will Smith were set to star in the project.

And now, Barbra has said Beyonce and Will would have made the film more ‘interesting’, as she believes the final version of the 2018 movie was too similar to her own version.
She said: ‘At first, when I heard it was going to be done again, it was supposed to be Will Smith and Beyoncé , and I thought, that’s interesting. Really make it different again, different kind of music, integrated actors, I thought that was a great idea.
‘So, I was surprised when I saw how alike it was to the version that I did in 1976.’

Barbra went on to say that she ‘thought it was the wrong idea’ for the remake but that she ‘can’t argue with success’ after it grossed $436m at the box office.
Speaking to ‘The Sunday Project’, she added: ‘[But] I don’t care so much about success as I do originality’.
Meanwhile, the ‘Funny Girl’ star previously said she thought Lady Gaga was ‘very good’ in her role.
Speaking about the 2018 film just a few days before its release, she said: ‘I haven’t seen the full cut, but it’s very good. Every time that film is made it’s a success. I loved Judy Garland’s version, I like this one a lot, and I liked mine.’
