She recently waved goodbye to her son Maddox, who has jetted off to South Korea‘s Yonsei University where he’ll study biochemistry.
And Angelina Jolie has admitted in a new interview that she had to be consoled when she dropped off her eldest child, despite feeling immensely proud of his academic achievements.
The A-list actress – who also raises children Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with her ex-husband Brad Pitt – said she was adjusting to life without him at home and empty nest syndrome hadn’t quite set in yet.

Discussing the life-changing event, she told OK! magazine: ‘Yes, I cried. he was very sweet and gave me a big long hug. It’s that transfer when they start taking care of you and making sure you’re OK.’
Angelina admitted she was ‘really proud’ of Maddox and ‘excited about his choices’ in life – but she couldn’t promise she wouldn’t be back on a plane to visit him within a few weeks.
The star, who will return to our screens this autumn in Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, said her six children are showing no signs of following her into acting, and they all have very diverse interests.

She has been enjoying training for her new movies, which include Marvel’s The Eternal, by getting involved in her kids’ extra curricular classes.
‘My son Knox does some weapons [classes] and Viv does karate, so I’ve been jumping into all their classes’, she said.
‘I’m the mum that keeps showing up! It’s been fun and going to the gym together is really good’.

In a video shared earlier this summer by jowonnn, who goes by xx_efu, she was fighting back tears when she dropped Maddox off at school.
The Oscar-winning actress appeared emotional but proud as she agreed to be photographed with several students.
Another fan who spoke with Jolie said Maddox is studying bio engineering and will be living in the dorms.
When asked in the video how long she would be staying in Seoul, Jolie gripped her sunglasses and said, ‘I leave today, today is the day that I drop him off.’
The Salt actress then touched her chest as she looks as if she is about to burst into tears: ‘I know, I’m trying not to cry.’
‘Yes it’s time, thank you very much, it seems like a great school,’ Angelina told the crowd. ‘I’m sure you’re all going to like it here.’
