On  New Strait Times , Ethan Wheatley said his grandmother was born in Selangor (Malaysia) and then moved to the foggy country very early. Wheatley also revealed that when he was young, he often went to Kuala Lumpur with his family to travel.

With such information, Malaysia quickly grasped and approached Wheatley. The Southeast Asian country hopes to convince this player to become a naturalized citizen in the future.
