Seeing Scarlett’s photos side by side, aren’t you amazed by how good she still looks after 25 years?! That’s one of the longest spans of time we’ve ever had in a Before and After. So is this a case of good genes… or a good doctor? Personally, I think it’s a bit of both.
Clearly, you can see that her teeth have undergone a makeover. She now has that dazzling, perfect smile that you only tend to see on celebrities.
“These are veneers,” says Dr. Sara Hahn. “The colour is definitely more white, the shape is a lot more even. The canines are the same white and that’s never naturally occurring. But now what I’m seeing is that her dental midline is not coincident with her facial midline. So we have sort of a Tom Cruise situation here.”5
The main alteration, however, was probably to her nose. In her teens, it had a wider bridge and bulbous tip, but now it’s perfectly petite and button-like to fit her face.
“In 2001, at the age of 17, what I’m seeing are some subtle signs of rhinoplasty and potentially an alarplasty [nostril surgery],” says Dr. Gary Linkov. “The tip to me looks less bulbous, even the bridge looks more narrow, and she has a more narrow nasal base.”6
“No one’s ever been known for having an attractive nose, only an unattractive one,” says Dr. Anthony Youn. “A good nose job, which is likely what this is, disappears and lets the other features stand out.”7
But Dr. Linkov also suspects she may have had both a brow lift and buccal fat removal procedure in her 30s. “When I look back at some of her other photos and then I look at this one in 2015, the brows overall just seem more lifted, elevated. Now, could this be a product of Botox injections? Maybe, but I’m sensing that there could be something surgical here, though of course I’m not completely sure. In 2018, at the age of 34, the area around where the buccal fat pads normally sit just looks more hollowed out to me. I just surmise that perhaps she could have gotten a buccal fat removal around this time.”6
He also believes that she’s been getting Botox to her forehead and between her brows since 2012, and filler in her cheeks since 2019. But what about her most famous feature—her lips?
“A lot of times people are getting filler or different lip surgeries or lip procedures to look closer like her, but you know, some people are just born with it. When you look at her upper lip [from the side], it’s flat up against her face. When people get filler, it tends to protrude the lip out, and that is one of the biggest differences between the natural look and the ‘filled’ look.”6
“A lot of patients ask me to make their lips look like Scarlett’s,” adds Dr. Youn, “but it’s impossible for a plastic surgeon to create perfection like this.”8
