A report from Defensa Central has emerged, saying that although Real Madrid are still waiting on Jamal Musiala, their main idea is to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
The outlet says that Madrid are keeping a close eye on Musiala, recognizing a fantastic opportunity. Just as Bellingham did, they believe Musiala could be a game-changer if he decides to make the move.
However, their primary focus is still on signing Wirtz, whose market value stands at €110 million, as he is currently their top choice at the Santiago Bernabeu, especially to join forces with Xabi Alonso.
Over the past few years, Real Madrid have altered their transfer strategy, looking for young talents rather than going for someone established, with the exception being Kylian Mbappe.
This is why Musiala and Wirtz have caught their attention, but the team from the Spanish capital faced immediate competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the Bayern Munich player.
As if that was not enough, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have joined the race and it is said that they are already a step ahead since they are reportedly preparing a great offer for the player.
At just 21 years old, Musiala has garnered significant acclaim as a playmaker across Europe. However, he is seeking assurances regarding Bayern Munich’s competitiveness, given their underwhelming season.
Despite having a contract until 2026, Musiala has not shown much interest in extending or renegotiating his deal, which has prompted speculation that he could be available for transfer either this year or the next.
For what it is worth, Musiala has expressed a preference for a move to the Premier League, citing the league’s global prestige and his upbringing in west London.
While Manchester City leads the race, other clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring Musiala’s situation, each facing different financial limitations.
A lot has been said about Wirtz in the past, including the fact that Real Madrid have identified him and Musiala as replacements for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
For now, though, everything is in the air and the player is rightly expected to continue his journey in Germany, especially since Alonso has decided to stay at Bayer for another season.
However, the situation might change next summer when Real will be on the lookout for a new manager and Alonso will once again be in the spotlight.
