Lady Gaga decided to go make-up free for her performance at the 2023 Oscars on Sunday night.
The Poker Face songstress, 36, took the stage at the event to sing her Grammy and Oscar-nominated song Hold My Hand from the Best Picture nominated film Top Gun: Maverick.
Fans of the star quickly noticed the lack of makeup on her face, which starkly contrasted the full face she wore on the red carpet and while sitting in the audience.
Her makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, shared a behind-the-scenes look at the ‘aftermath’ of getting Gaga’s makeup off before her performance.
The day after the event, Tanno offered a glimpse at what went behind the 360 transformation, which didn’t look simple.

A photo shared to her Instagram stories showed a collection of dirty makeup wipes, cotton swabs, and circular pads that were used to remove the Born This Way singer’s full beat.
Tanno wrote on the photo: ‘The Aftermath,’ and then credited InStyle below the picture.
Before the drastic transformation, Gaga hit the red carpet in a sheer gown that showed off her tattooed backside.
She also appeared to be going commando in her jaw-dropping dress, which was pulled right off the Versace runway only a few days after Gigi Hadid wore it on the catwalk.
Her face was in full glam, complete with smokey eyes, heavy eyeliner, mascara, and her plump pout was glossed in hot crimson.
Several products Tanno decorated Gaga with were achieved by using Gaga’s makeup brand Haus Labs, which is known for its high-impact, high-color products.
When it was time for her performance, the Shallow hitmaker opted for a completely stripped-back look.
She paired her bare face with a similarly simple outfit, which included a black t-shirt and a pair of black jeans with rips in the knees.

The beauty also wore her blonde locks pulled off her face with a french braid. She wore the braid for the red carpet as well, but by the time she hit the stage, pieces had begun to fall, and she made no moves to fix it.
Despite her jaw-dropping vocal performance, fans seemed to focus mainly on the lack of makeup and how fresh and clean her face looked.
One lingering question remained: What product did Gaga and her team use to seamlessly remove her full glam in such a short time?
Unfortunately, Tanno didn’t reveal any of the products she used in her quick Instagram post.
An interview she did with Harper’s Bazaar in 2019 could give fans some insight into what the products might be.
‘I like to kick it old school, I like the Lancôme Bi-Facil,’ she mentioned as a go-to product for removing makeup.
‘Also, argan oil—Gaga taught me that. If you have heavy eye makeup or waterproof products, just straight up argan oil is really great to just remove everything and melt it off. I learn so much from her!’
