Vinicius Jr. and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Showcase Their Stylish Flair at Madrid Meet-up

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior and NBA player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have become friends because of their shared love of fashion and sports.

Their relationship started when SGA happened to watch a Real Madrid vs. Manchester City match.

He met Vinicius Junior at this event, and their mutual appreciation of fashion served to strengthen their bond.

What happened is that they have gotten really close as friends. In January, Vinicius delivered Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a kit that was stained with matches and personalized it with the words, “You are the future for Shai Gilgeous.” I enjoy your style of dressing.

The NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder’s All-Star Gilgeous-Alexander showed his support for his friend by going to Tuesday’s opening leg of Real Madrid vs. Manchester City in the Champions League semifinal. In Madrid, the two later got back in touch.

Furthermore, there are many similarities between Vinicius, 22, and Gilgeous-Alexander, 24, and both are praised for possessing fluid playing styles. In their own sports, both are recognized as generational superstars. But perhaps the area of similarity between them is in fashion. Gilgeous-Alexander most recently won GQ’s most fashionable man of 2022 after receiving widespread acclaim for his Met Gala ensemble. Vinicius Junior, a fashion designer and basketball enthusiast, recently took a big risk by publicly rejecting Nike.

Vinicius Junior posted a picture of Gilgeous-Alexander and himself to Twitter with the message “my bro.”

In the photo, SGA and his partner are seen grinning together, and it looks like he’s got a Real Madrid shirt on underneath his leather jacket. Their sincere admiration for each other appears to be strengthened by the cultural similarities between their respective sports. It’s a rare experience to be a professional athlete and pursue other interests; meeting others who share their viewpoints must be energizing.

As for the future, Gilgeous-Alexander is only starting his offseason, so he will have plenty of time to watch as Real Madrid looks to upset Manchester City in the second leg of their semifinal next week. As of right now, the tie is 1-1 overall.
